This is the land of disenchantment, there are no illusions here. Fitness is used as a tool to train the body and our behaviors. It is to expose the gaps between our mental philosophies and our physical realities and how to reconcile those differences objectively.

Philosophy

  • Objective based training - results matter.

  • Live off the land -  eat plants and animals.

  • Functional training - it carries over to a purpose.

  • The mind is a muscle- its easy being hard but hard being smart.

  • Generalists survive - train all energy systems & skills.

  • Power to weight ratio - you are the engine and you must carry it.

  • Performance is equal to R & R - sleep is exercise.

PERSONAL TRAINING FAQ

WHERE DOES RUBICON FITNESS PROVIDE PERSONAL TRAINING?

Rubicon Fitness provides private personal training in Studio City, Sherman Oaks, North Hollywood, Hollywood Hills & West Hollywood at private gyms, and in clients’ homes throughout the surrounding Los Angeles area. Sessions are appointment-only.

WHO IS PERSONAL TRAINING FOR?

Training is designed for adults who want to build strength, improve mobility, return after time away, or train carefully around previous injuries and chronic limitations. Programs are individualized for the client rather than built around group classes or fitness trends.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE FIRST SESSION?

The first session establishes your goals, training history, current movement capacity, and any relevant injuries or limitations. Movement, stability, mobility, and strength are assessed before a long-term program is developed.

CAN YOU TRAIN CLIENTS WITH INJURIES OR CHRONIC PAIN?

Yes, when a client has been cleared for exercise. Training begins by assessing the affected movement pattern, restoring useful mobility and stability, and introducing load progressively. When appropriate, collaboration with physical therapists and other healthcare providers will be used.

What type of training do you use?

Programs may include strength + conditioning training, corrective exercise, mobility, and recovery work. Sessions emphasize fundamental movement patterns such as squatting, hinging, pressing, pulling, lunging, and carrying.

Do you offer nutrition coaching?

Yes. Nutrition Strategies is available for clients who want practical guidance for body composition, recovery, health, and sustainable performance. The approach is individualized behaviors rather than based on 1 rigid diet.

Do I need to be in shape before starting?

No. Training begins at your current level and is used to get you in shape. Exercise selection, intensity, and progression are adjusted to your ability, experience, and recovery capacity.

How do I schedule a consultation?

Use the Schedule link to request a private consultation. We will discuss your goals, availability, location, and whether the coaching approach is a good fit.
